Countdown

I decided to make "countdown posts" until the last day of school.
Here's today:

23
There will be posts like this for the next 23 days! And then on the 23rd day will be a picture, so you know I have survived:

The first year of middle school
No AC upstairs or in the whole school
The kickball tournament with the team name O Trains (Let's hope we win)
D-R-A-M-A with a capital D
New friends, old friends
Nice teachers
Mean teachers
Weird teachers
Teachers that say "mine" like Myan
Ghost-looking teachers
AWESOME TEACHERS!!!
The Freedom Trail
A graveyard scavenger hunt
Saying, "Huzzah!" to the Loyalists and "Fie!" to the Patriots
The mile
Piles of projects and homework
AND THE AWESOMEST YEAR
EVER.

AC-Air Conditioning

In school, on the TOP FLOOR, we don't have air conditioning. In the whole school. For the past 3 days we've been in the 80s-90s. And our teacher told us that say, when it was 80 degrees, it would be 90 degrees upstairs, 10 degrees higher than the temperature outside. So on that 90 degree day, it was 100 degrees in our small, upstairs classroom.Feel free to feel bad.

The Mile - Part 2

The practice mile went on. My time was 10:55, not my best. My best is 10:14. There was supposed to be the mile "Fun Run" with music and everything. And the 8th and 7th graders got to have it. But they canceled it for the 5th and 6th. Because of the stupid bad allergy season. We all wanted to do the fun run, because people would be cheering us on, and there would be cool music. In our classroom we had the windows open, because our school has NO AC! And we're on the TOP FLOOR! Feel sorry if you wish. So anyway, we heard the music flowing into our classroom, and were really excited for the Fun Run. But, at the end of the day, right when we were about to leave the announcement came on, "The 5th and 6th grade Fun run is canceled and WILL NOT be rescheduled." We were all like, "Huh?" So in gym class we found out it was due to the bad allergy season. Oh well.

Cookies

My first recipe:

Chocolate Chip Cookies

2 sticks butter
3/4 cup brown sugar-tightly packed
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (Trader Joe's are the best)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix everything thoroughly. Shape dough into balls and bake for 10-15 minutes. 15 minutes is the best for crispiness. Let them bake and enjoy!

JK: Just Kidding
KK: OK
HH: hee hee or he he
W/E: whatever
U: U can figure that out
22ly: Totally

Weather

Weather here has been..weird here lately. A couple of weeks ago it was 90 degrees, and the next day is was a LOT cooler. Right now, it's 52 degrees. My friend in CA says that it was 90 degrees too, and got a little cooler later. My other friend in CO says that THEY JUST HAD A SNOW STORM and a few days later it would be 78 degrees, ish. And it's rainy here, by the way. Cold and rainy, the worst weather you could have on a perfectly good Tuesday, and then the rain and coldness cam in and ruined. Oh well.

The Mile :(

On May 25, 2010, I will have to do the mile. In the year we have done 4 official miles, but our track is 1/3 a mile, so every time we run it three times in a week, we're doing a mile. My best time (so far) was 10:14. But this time, we found out that ALL of the upstairs homerooms will be doing the mile together. Last time I didn't bring water...and that was fall, so it was colder (luckily) and I survived. But with the heat wave we've been getting, it might be HOT or COLD, I do not know. But I know I'll HAVE to bring water anyway. But, they have a practice mile (not with all the homerooms)too. Forgot to tell you, AFTER we've done the real, with homerooms mile, we've done 4 miles. Not 6.
